West Seattle Nu-Ray Series 2000 Metal Roof + Solar & Battery Storage Project
Pinnacle Roofing Professionals, LLC recently completed this full roof replacement and energy upgrade in West Seattle, Washington, combining a Nu-Ray Metals Series 2000 standing seam metal roof in dark bronze with a 17.1 kW CertainTeed Solstice solar system and 30 kWh of Enphase IQ10C battery storage. The home overlooks a lush, tree-filled garden and a calm body of water, with tall evergreens framing views of distant hills — a setting that deserves a roof built to last for decades.
By handling the roof replacement, solar installation, and battery storage under one licensed roofing and electrical contractor, the homeowner received a fully integrated system: a roof engineered to support solar for the long haul, clean power production, and backup energy storage for outages and rate savings.

Nu-Ray Series 2000 Standing Seam Metal Roof in Dark Bronze
After removing the old asphalt shingle roof, our crews installed a 24-gauge Nu-Ray Metals Series 2000 standing seam metal roof shown in a rich dark bronze finish. The Series 2000 features a 1½-inch leg height and is mechanically field seamed after installation, locking each panel together for exceptional resistance to wind-driven rain — a must in the Puget Sound climate.
Like all Nu-Ray Metals standing seam systems, the Series 2000 uses a concealed-fastener floating clip system that allows the panels to expand and contract with temperature changes without stressing fasteners or creating leak points. The dark bronze finish pairs beautifully with the home’s natural surroundings, complementing the evergreens and water views rather than competing with them.
As part of the roof installation, we also added a VELUX sun tunnel, bringing natural daylight into the home’s interior without a full skylight — a simple upgrade that makes a noticeable difference during the Pacific Northwest’s gray winter months.
Why Series 2000 Works for West Seattle Homes
- Mechanically seamed 1½-inch legs deliver superior watertight performance in heavy rain and wind
- Concealed-fastener floating clips accommodate thermal expansion and contraction
- 24-gauge steel construction provides decades of service life — far outlasting asphalt shingles
- Dark bronze finish offers a warm, architectural look that suits wooded and waterfront settings
- Standing seam panels are an ideal substrate for solar attachment, reducing roof penetrations
17.1 kW CertainTeed Solstice Solar System
With the new roof in place, we installed 38 CertainTeed Solstice 450-watt solar panels paired with Enphase IQ8HC microinverters, for a total system size of 17.1 kW. The IQ8HC platform converts DC to AC power at each panel, providing panel-level monitoring, rapid shutdown compliance, and strong production even when portions of the array are shaded by the property’s tall evergreens.
High-efficiency 450-watt modules keep the array compact while maximizing output across the roof planes — and the low-profile, all-black appearance of the Solstice panels looks right at home on the dark bronze standing seam roof.
30 kWh Enphase IQ10C Battery Storage
To top the system off, we installed 30 kWh of energy storage using Enphase IQ10C batteries. The batteries store excess solar production during the day and discharge it when the home needs it most — in the evening, during peak utility rate windows, or during a power outage. Because the Enphase IQ8HC microinverters and IQ10C batteries share one ecosystem, the entire system is monitored and managed from a single app.
For a waterfront West Seattle home, that means real resilience: when winter storms knock out power across the region, this home can keep the lights on, the refrigerator running, and essential circuits powered from stored solar energy.
